May 2012: This review was written by GF Lady, the previous owner of GlutenFreeAlbuquerque.com and is used here with her permission.
Jinja is now a great place to go for those eating gluten free because they have just recently introduced their new Gluten-Free Menu (October, 2011). The diner eating gluten free will be delighted with the variety of appetizers, soups, meal-sized salads, and entrees. I plan on eating my way through the entire menu in the next few months.
A friend and I went to Jinja for lunch and both of us ordered the Wok-seared Beef Tenderloin Salad, which is available in a gluten-free and standard version. My friend ordered the standard version but thought the beef in my salad tasted much better. The salad is filled with leafy greens and vegetables and is topped with several generous pieces of perfectly-cooked tenderloin. The Lime Dipping Sauce served on the side makes for an excellent combination of flavors. I asked the server to leave off the crispy shallots because I was concerned that they may have been fried in oil that was cross contaminated.
I have also ordered the Rice Paper wrapped seafood – Halibut or Salmon – several times. Both of these selections are great for dinner because the Halibut and Salmon portions are quite generous.Jinja is a great place to go on a date or with friends as the atmosphere is conducive to conversation. On a warm summer evening, one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal is on Jinja’s beautiful, secluded patio.
